National Scorecard

The Center is constructing a high-level national scorecard that will ‘score’ the degree to which current payment meets benchmarks established by the principles and conceptual framework.  The scorecard will focus on the need for effective changes to payment and will annually assess the impact of existing payment reform efforts. The metrics will highlight the current status of performance-based payment and potential progress over time, including the breadth and depth of performance-based payments, the types and use of various performance-based payment models, and the value obtained from existing and new forms of payment, among other issues.

The Scorecard will be national, with additional detail on specific regional or local markets.  These markets would be representative of the varying structures of provider organizations and payment models.  The Center is working with recognized measurement experts to establish the “scoring” metrics and methodology through the creation of a Scorecard Advisory Committee.

The National Scorecard on Payment Reform and a corresponding report will be publically released annually.
